I have no website yet to apply the tools and have not try other system to make the comparison to counter the theory but based on your concept, I think it is well considered. I've been testing it since the changes took place, and although they are more accurate than the previous toolbar only version, they are still not as accurate as your own website statistics. The one benefit to using the Alexa site is to compare your own statistics with your competition. While the traffic stats themselves are not as accurate as they could be, they are comparable to your competitor sites as well... and you can keep an eye on how your site fares against others in a general way.
