Aron Embry from Cedar Hill in Texas claims that his new cell phone blew up in his ear. Mr. Embry had bought the Motorola Droid 2 cell phone two days before but this didn’t stop it from exploding his ear.
The explosion caused him to go to the emergency room and get stitches in his left ear. Mr Embry is clearly annoyed by the incident but is surprised that the phone is still working. On an interview on Fox 4 News he stated.
‘I heard a pop. I didn’t feel any pain initially. I pulled the phone down. I felt something dripping. I realised that it was probably blood. I went into the house and as I got into the bathroom and once I got to the mirror and saw it, it was only then I kinda looked at my phone and noticed the screen had appeared to burst outward’
As an American without health insurance Mr. Embry hopes to get compensation from Motorola. It doesn’t take a genius to guess that Motorola are not feeling generous and have disputed the incident.
Motorola has two issues, the first is the phone apparently exploded but is still working. Electronics do explode from time to time but usually due to a fault in the battery which of course would leave the phone unusable. The second issue, a phone repair expert has deemed the damage to be ‘user caused’.
Motorola’s bottom line is they have ‘no reason to believe the phone ‘exploded’ as it is still operational and intact. We believe this is an isolated incident and are not aware of any similar issues’.
