PageRank of E

rank e webandrank articles.thumbnail PageRank of EThere are many factors which determine the ranking of Google search results but PageRank continues to be the foundation for all of Google’s web search tools. PageRank is an algorithm that analyses the links between websites by assigning a numerical weighting to each website with the aim of measuring its relative importance within the set. If you link your site with another site you are effectively casting a vote for that site making it a little bit more important within the web rankings; how much your link will increase the web ranking will depend on how important your site is. The algorithm can be applied to any set of hyperlinked documents.

The algorithm is nothing to be sniffed at; Google sold its shares for the patent for $336 million.

The Google toolbar is a good way to see how your site is doing. They reckon it takes 5 or 6 links to move up the scale to the first point; the scale is from 1 – 10. It is a logarithmic scale so to move up to the second rung it takes 100, to the third 1,000 and so on. It is very tough to move up the scale near the top end.

I thought you might like to know some ways to improve your PageRank:
If your site has new and unique content people will keep coming back to find out what is going on. They will also pass on this information source to their friends. For example, if you have a site for a babysitting agency why not start a blog about the latest in child care news and techniques.
Make sure you have inside linking in your website. You can link your articles and provide a list of related articles so browsers stay for a long time on your site.
Does your site have a map? You can XML based sitemap for Google and text based for Yahoo.
If you hadn’t figured it out yet, make as many links as you can with other web owners by trading links. You scratch my back and I will scratch yours. This is a free, fast and easy way to improve your visibility in search engines.
Social Media is also a fantastic way to improve your rankings. Get yourself on twitter, facebook, Wikipedia and the other multitude of Social Media sites. You can make links from there too.
If you have the skills you can have a go at SEO copywriting. This is when you write an article subtly promoting your business that can be posted up on blog sites with links to your site embedded.

Everybody is competing now for the top positions in search engine rankings. It really is not easy to make yourself visible these days but with a little hard work you can do it. PageRank is not the only factor in high rankings but is massively important, give the above tips a try and see how you go.
